Smalkworks Mobile App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Smalkworks (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our mobile applications (“Apps”) and website (“Site”).

Most Smalkworks Apps work without a Smalkworks account. Core app data such as settings, progress, favorites, and written answers is stored on your device unless a feature clearly says otherwise.

Information You Choose to Provide

If you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you include so we can reply. We do not sell this information.

Some Apps offer optional sign-in to a third-party service such as Google Drive. If you use that feature, the App may receive basic account information, such as your email address and a service-specific user identifier, to show which account is connected and provide the requested feature. Smalkworks does not use this information for advertising.

App Data and Optional Cloud Features

• On-device data: Written answers, sightings, favorites, progress, settings, and personal photos are stored on your device unless a feature clearly says otherwise. Smalkworks does not receive this data.
• Google Drive: If an App offers cloud backup and you choose to connect Google Drive, its backup files are stored in your own Drive account. The App requests access only to files it creates. You can turn off automatic backup or disconnect Drive at any time.
• iCloud Drive: If an iOS App offers cloud backup and you choose iCloud Drive, its backup files are stored in your own iCloud Drive account. You can turn off automatic backup or disconnect the service in the App. iCloud Drive is not offered on Android.
• QuestionGames sharing links: You choose which answers to publish and who receives each link. Sharing files are encrypted before upload. The decryption key is carried in the link and is not stored with the encrypted file. Anyone who has the complete link can read the answers published to it. You can make a link private again in the App.
• QuestionGames poll votes: Poll cards send an anonymous option count to Smalkworks. We do not attach a name, Google account, written answer, or advertising identifier to a poll vote.

Advertising and Consent

Free versions may show ads supplied by Google AdMob. Depending on your platform, region, consent choices, and device privacy settings, Google may process:

• Device or advertising identifiers
• Coarse location derived from network information
• Ad views, clicks, and other product interactions
• Advertising, performance, diagnostic, and crash data

Where required, the App asks for advertising consent before requesting an ad. On iOS, tracking permission is requested through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency system before the advertising identifier can be used. If you decline personalized advertising or tracking, you can still use the App and may still receive non-personalized ads.

When required in your region, Settings includes Ad Privacy Choices so you can review or change your consent. You can also manage tracking and advertising identifiers in your device settings. Google’s use of advertising data is described in Google’s Privacy & Terms.

App Analytics

Our Apps may use Firebase Analytics to understand app launches, screen views, feature use, purchase events, and basic app and device performance. We use this information to improve reliability and decide which features need attention.

We do not send written answers, poll choices, Google Drive contents, sharing-link contents, contact details, or payment card information to Firebase Analytics. Google may process app interactions, device or installation identifiers, diagnostic information, purchase event details, and coarse location derived from network information under its own privacy terms.

App Permissions

An App asks for a permission only when a feature needs it. Depending on the App and features you use, this can include:

• Notifications: To deliver reminders you choose
• Microphone and speech recognition: To turn a spoken answer into text
• Location: To answer a nearby-content request you initiate
• Photos or media: To use an optional photo, sharing, or platform media feature

You can change permissions in device settings.

Purchases and Subscriptions

Apple or Google processes in-app purchases and subscriptions. Smalkworks may receive purchase status, product identifiers, transaction identifiers, and purchase dates so an App can unlock paid features, restore purchases, and honor an active or previously purchased entitlement. Smalkworks does not receive or store your payment card information.

Website and External Links

The Site may use cookies and analytics to understand visits and maintain the service. Apps may also link to services operated by others. Those services publish their own privacy policies.

Data Security and Retention

Local app data remains until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App. Google Drive and iCloud Drive backup files remain in your account until you remove them. Disconnecting a provider stops the App from syncing but does not silently delete your existing cloud file. QuestionGames sharing files remain available until you make the link private or delete the shared data. Support messages are retained as needed to provide support and maintain business records. Advertising and analytics providers retain data under their own policies and your consent choices.

We use platform security features and encrypted network connections. QuestionGames sharing files also use app-level encryption. No system can guarantee absolute security.

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell written answers, sightings, progress, support messages, or other user data for commercial purposes.
• We do not use written answers, poll choices, Drive files, or sharing-link contents for advertising or analytics.
• We do not run a server that stores personal cloud backup files.
• We do not require a Smalkworks account for core app features.
• We do not store payment card information.

Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• Access or delete your data
• Restrict how your data is used
• Withdraw consent for data collection

You can delete local data in the App or by uninstalling it, remove files from your connected cloud account, make QuestionGames sharing links private, change advertising consent through Ad Privacy Choices when available, and change app permissions in device settings.

To make a request concerning information Smalkworks controls, contact support@smalkworks.com. For data controlled by Google, Apple, or an app store, use that provider’s privacy controls.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including:

• The right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it
• The right to request deletion of personal information we control
• The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information where applicable
• The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Smalkworks does not sell personal information for money. Advertising providers may process identifiers and app activity as described above, subject to your consent and device controls.

Children’s Privacy

Our Apps are not intended for children under 13. QuestionGames includes optional mature question decks and is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our Apps, providers, or legal obligations change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
